fashion:How many items of clothing have you purchased in the past year that have a positive social impact?

The clothes we wear have a big impact on people around the world. Garments made in safe, decent working conditions and where producers are paid a living wage can empower the people who make our clothes. Whilst some clothing production can push workers in the supply chain into unsafe, forced or abusive conditions. What we wear does make a difference and every time we buy a piece of clothing, we are faced with an opportunity to support better practices.
Do you know how many clothing items you have purchased in the last year that have had a positive social impact?

Do you think fashion brands are doing enough to protect people working in their supply chains?

In Fashion Revolution’s 2018 Consumer Survey of 5000 people aged 16-75, the majority of people think it is important for fashion brands to reduce their long-term impacts on the world by addressing global poverty (84%) and gender inequality (77%). Also, 61% of those surveyed agreed that they are ‘interested in learning about what fashion brands do to protect workers’ human rights.’
Our survey results show that consumers want brands to protect the people working in their supply chain and communicate their efforts publicly. We don’t want clothes if they don’t protect the people working in the supply chain. But are fashion brands doing enough to make that a reality?
