TRAVEL: BORNEO MALAYASIA - MIRI

we got on the bus from Brunei to Miri on the main street along the pier overlooking the floating village Kampung Ayer at around 8am. theres no sign post or anything, we asked around and looked at the map from booking.com and sort of just waited until it came.

it's not a very long journey, around about an hour or so we got to the border, we got off the bus and went through the small centre, quickly getting stumped approval to go through and then we got back on the bus

it dropped us of in the centre, we checked into our hotel, and OVO, not the best but affordable and convenient, we were only staying the 1 day

MIRI struck oil in the 1900s and thus attracted lots of china migrant works, therefore there's a big old Chinese the,ple which we later visited. along with a handicraft market. they memorialised the oil striking with Malaysia's first oil rig -The Grand  old lady standing at 30m in height

we got a didi to the national park. -

Lambir Hills National Park

a jungle lie trek with waterfalls it was super quiet, no animals, and we passed only one person the whole time. we literally had the how waterfall to ourselves - we only did the first one as we didn't have a lot of time and didn't want to do a full hike in the intense heat, but it was still nice!

was a bit awkward to get back with a bus as it was a public holiday that day so we had to get an uber back to the city. we went for a stroll around the city checking out the local sights, it was quite because of the holiday, sunny to, quite hot, we checked out the handicraft market, though it wasn't so special, and stopped at a local cafe dinner for fresh fruit juice and a bite to eat. we went for a stroll around the Miri city fan park before going to theChinese temple. Tua Pek Kong chinese temple is in the old town area, heavily decorated with dragons, it was quite in the late afternoon when we went.

we got another didi to try and see the sunset at the beach, we found a strange food market at beach, but there was an unfortunate lack of sunset at Brighton Beach, which was disappointing. we headed back to our room and later went to a nearby chinese restaurant seafood.

we didn't go TUSCAN beach as it is further away, but its worth a visit  as at night you may see the "blue tears" phenomenon  due to tiny sea organisms in the water!

the next day we got our flight back to Kuala Lumpur  then a couple hours later a transfer to sri lanka, to Colombo.

TRAVEL: WASHINGTON

AUGUST 2015
A DAY IN Washington DC

I took the bus then the metro to the city centre

"The Silver Line Express Bus provides nonstop service between Dulles Airport and the Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station, which connects to the Silver Line of the D.C. metro. It takes about 15 minutes to reach the metro station on the Express Bus, and from there it's about another 45 minutes on the train into the city"
