TRAVEL:winter SHANGHAI MACAU

18th – 29th January Shanghai, macau, Shenzhen
Went to work the next day, looks like I was a bit drunk last night, sore head and stomach etc. not much need for me to be there, but then they gave me a birthday cake a champagne, how sweet!

Met up with Fei on the Saturday and went to a jewellery collection opening, its romantic for upcoming valentines day, the necklaces put together spell love and the rings and earrings look like side profiles of people kissing, its sweet. The boutique itself was cool, with international designers, some really nice bags and jewellery. The company was called TOAK Two of a Kind, with the collection called OOAK one of a kind. Was a nice day. Its been sooo cold in shanghai, its went down to -6 during the day! People in the north have been throwing water and its been freezing mid air.

澳门
Got my flight to Shenzhen on Sunday night,Still cold in Shenzhen but at least in the positives, his house was freezing, we got the boat over to macau, an hour long journey around 1.30pm. we got a bus to JW.Marrriot, its beside the Galaxy hotel and casino. The casinos and buildings look amazing, the sky was clear but cold, the pool would have been amazing if it wasn’t so freezing.

We hit the historic area, with two UNESCO sites, a temple and st pauls ruins, with only the front remaining due to a 3rd severe fire in the 1800s.  you could still see some scorch marks, and over the centuries it hasn’t really changed. You could see how they had worked it into Chinese culture, with the use of some scultpures and even writings taken from Chinese belief and style. Was interesting to see how they make it work to fit in and become acceptable to the local society.  Underneath was a crypt and some religious icons, you could see the different layers of ground level through floor cut outs, always find this interesting to see.
We first went up a crazily steep hill to the fort, Monte Forte,  originally built in the 1600s the canons were pointed towards the sea, none to china, to show amicability and for protection.

We went towards a nice little temple, shaking the incense and appreciating the quiet lull as it was away from the main square and steps, steps which over the centuries has seen so many different people and events. Found a really cool art design shop, people having sculpted the most amazing candles, one had done human body parts, there was graphic tshirts and crochet lace jewelery.

When we EVENTUALLY found the Unesco temple it was closed – A-Ma temple. Really hard to get a taxi back to the hotel, had some Ribena, yes Ribena, soooo good! Cant wait to have some at home.

local community park encouraging art with kids via graffiti - interesting!

RUINS OF ST PAULS

went to the venice, its so cool, with some canals and a gondola you can ride, with the best shops. The roof is done like a azure blue sky and the interior to look like Italian houses of Venice complex, so picturesque, had a great dinner at an Italian restaurant, risotto, though their cocktails weren;t amazing. Back at the hotel had a fantastic bath, its been too long! Then hit the galaxy complex. got our worth of chips and doubled it. I learnt baccarat. Started getting the gist, I didn’t play I just wanted to be wingman, put down on 3 and my lucky number 7 on blackjack to no avail. Poker was super expensive so wasn’t played.  I got I.d’d feeling young!

Went to a whisky bar for some celebratory champagne and also got a really nice passion fruit cocktail.
We spent the next day in the galaxy complex, it was cold and drizzly outside.  some more gambling again, this time loosing. Lady luck comes and goes. Went to a Portuguese macanese restaurant, great sangria and I had a really nice Portuguese potato soup. Browsed the designer shops, I dislike Versace and im loving dolce and gabanna.
Missed the boat back due to horrendous traffic, unlike a train in china you cannot refund a ticket. We went into the which is a huge casino 赌场 Grand Lisboa. They are all so fancy inside, no photos but I still got a couple sneaky ones

Back in Shenzhen had a lie in, hot pot and a foot massage, before getting the plane
