TRAVEL: Sri Lanka WILPATTU

WILPATTU NATIONAL PARK

Wilpattu National Park is a park located on the island of Sri Lanka. The unique feature of this park is the existence of "Willus" - Natural, sand-rimmed water basins or depressions that fill with rainwater. Located in the Northwest coast lowland dry zone of Sri Lanka

we organised a tour with the hostel/hotel we were staying in, in Anuradhapura. an early morning 6am start. unfortunately we didn't spot many animals. not a leopard in sight.
we got a basic lunch provided. were picked up from the hotel and transported to a place with a safari trunk which took us around the park for around 5 hours til around noon time. we thought morning would be better to see the animals as it would be cooler, but unfortunately not. the driver often spots, mentions and stops when he spots any animals. trucks can accommodate up to 4-6 people usually

plenty of birds though.....
