ART: vivienne westwood jewellery exhibition 2025

vivienne westwood jewellery exhibition 2025 Shanghai

Vivienne Westwood (1941-2022) was a British fashion designer known for her provocative clothing. With her partner, Malcolm McLaren, she extended the influence of the 1970s punk music movement into fashion.

Cutting edge but classic, her collections are unflinchingly rooted in her interests and beliefs, whether it is human rights or classical fiction.  Vivienne didn’t attend a fashion school, nor did she become famous at a young age. She is a self-taught designer who was making dresses and jewellery on the side while teaching and decided to take a different career path when she was in her 30s (you are never to old to change, find a new path or start a new career).

THE ORB

The Vivienne Westwood Orb is the iconic emblem of the British fashion house, symbolising the fusion of royal tradition with futuristic, punk-inspired innovation. First introduced in 1987, it combines the Sovereign's Orb with the rings of Saturn.,
The Meaning
  • Royal Heritage: Inspired by the British monarch's Orb, representing tradition and justice.
  • The Future: Saturn's rings were added to symbolize taking this heritage into the future
