CREATIVE COOKING for kids

Today for creative cooking our theme was based on this week’s fruits topic

We began by talking about our favourite fruit and fruit juice before making our own fruit smoothie! Banana and strawberry yummy!

We peeled and cut our fruit before putting it into the blender and blending with milk

Then we made oat cups. Healthy and delicious. We mashed up our biscuits. Rolled in some butter and put it in the cup for a biscuit base.

Next we cut up our fruits

Raspberry strawberry blueberry and grape

We added this to our cups then our oats, yogurt and some blueberry jam.

***The smoothies can made with milk or non dairy oat milk/yogurt, for those allergic to milk !

today in creative cooking class our theme was based on our phonics A+B apples and bananas!

So we made apple blueberry oatcakes and banoffee (my favourite)

We made our banoffee first. We used lots of words we studied from <go bananas> such as slice the bananas and mash the biscuit.

We added some butter to the biscuit and put it in our buns cases to make a base, followed by our sliced bananas. We topped this with condensed milk and cream and sprinkled some coco powder on top. Yum!

We then moved on to our oat cakes. Slicing up blueberries and apples. We then blended this with a bit of warm water, milk and butter to make a purée.

We mashed oats and cornflakes putting it into a big bowl and adding a little cinnamon. Then added the purée, honey and peanut butter. Mixing it into a paste. Once done we put on a baking tray and cooked, adding some blueberry jam on top halfway through for extra yumminess!

smiley potato cakes and bbq sauce!

For our bbq we cut up stinky onions and tomatoes really small. We cooked the onion with some garlic and herbs adding soy sauce sugar, honey, tomato sauce and a little vinegar. We blended the tomatoes and added it to. Heating and condensing before blending it again and condensing one more time

Our smiley potato cakes were a little messy! We mashed up our boiled potato pumpkin and sweet potato. Then adding a little salt and pepper, butter and a dash of cream/milk we took it in turns to use the potato masher making it into a paste. We then shaped it and made a face using a cup and chopsticks. Before putting it in the oven to cook.

Today in creative cooking we are getting ready for chinese new year - the year of the tiger! So its a tiger themed class.

Making peanut butter tiger fudge slices and cute tiger buns.

We made the peanutbutter tiger fudge slices first.

Our chocolate was hard so we got to work out any anger we had by smashing it up in the bag with our rolling pins. For our white, milk and orange chocolate and also our biscuit base too.

We put them into 4 different containers and melted with some milk and butter for the biscuit base.

We worked in groups of 2-3. Leveling our biscuit base. The teacher mixed peanut with the white chocolate. It smelt so good!

We added this on top. Then slowly added lines of milk chocolate on top. We swirled it to look like stripes and later added some chocolate icing to perfect it. It then went in the freezer to set and later cut.

Next was our cute tiger buns. We spread orange chocolate over it for the face. Added eyes and m+m ears. A mini biscuit in the centre for a nose. Now time to decorate! Using chocolate and chocolate icing we drew the nose mouth stripes and whiskers. So cute!!
