The Hanging Temple, located about 60 kilometers southeast of Datong, China, in the Shanxi province, is one of the world's forgotten wonders. Clinging to a crag of Hengshan mountain - just outside Datong city it consists of 40 rooms linked by a dizzying maze of passageways.

The Yungang Grottoes, formerly the Wuzhoushan Grottoes, are ancient Chinese Buddhist temple grottoes near the city of Datong in Shanxi china. They are excellent examples of rock-cut architecture and one of the 3 most famous ancient Buddhist sculptural sites of China. The others are Longmen & Mogao. 云冈石窟
