TRAVEL: MIRI Borneo, Malaysia

Miri is part of Malaysia on Borneo island positioned beside Brunei.  it's known for striking oil in the early 20th century.

when we finally arrived and checked in then got an uber to Lambir Hils National park. it was a holy day so most people weren't doing much. when we arrived it was pretty much empty except for the sales ticket officer. he informed us there was only 1 bus around 3 and that it was difficult to get an uber from the park as it was quite far out so we decided to only go to the nearest waterfall about 40 minutes away in the trek.

there was no one around, we basically had a private forest and waterfall. quiet and peaceful it was wonderful, you could even swim in the pool of the waterfall if you wanted. we chilled in the huts overlooking the waterfall, quiet and relaxing, its not too big, just under 7000 hectares and mainly forest.

how to get there: Lambir is only 32 km from Miri. From Miri (Pujut Corner Bus Terminal) take any express bus to Bintulu, Sibu or Kuching, all of which stop directly opposite the park HQ. The journey time is 30-40 minutes.

afterwords we checked out some of the local sights to see such as "Miri fan city" a park, not the most exciting to be honest, from there we went on to check out the handicraft centre on Jalan Brooke which is open 9-6pm, its not the busiest or most exciting. we stopped for a drink before checking out TUA PEK KONG, a beautiful  Chinese temple built in 1913. afterwords we headed t Brighton beac which had a load of food stalls including strange chocolate hot dog things. we had planned to see the sunset but it was a bit too overcast.
